Lynn Janson

Lynn Janson, a Lansing native, won at every level in his career.

He was an All-American at Michigan State University, won the Michigan Amateur Championship in 1968, won two Michigan Open Championships (1974, ’80) the Michigan PGA Professional Championship four times (1979, ’81, ’85, ’87) and the Michigan PGA Match Play Championship three times (1981, ’84 and ’85).

The longtime head golf professional at Green Ridge Country Club, which became Egypt Valley Country Club, also qualified for and played with the world’s top golfers in seven U.S. Opens and seven PGA Championships.

In later years, he also won the Michigan Senior Open (2005) and the Michigan Senior PGA Championship (1999).

He was named the Michigan PGA Player of the Year five times and he was Michigan PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 1991. He also played in 12 national PGA Professional Championships for club professionals, played in the PGA Tour’s Buick Open five times and played in the PGA Tour Champions stops at Egypt Valley.

Janson also owned Hastings Country Club and served as its teaching professional before his recent retirement.
