Growing up at Red Run Golf Club, Brian Cairns watched some of the state’s best players. They all had their own style of play but they got the ball into the hole. It was a lesson that took longer to sink in, but when it did Cairns became a force as a professional in the Michigan PGA Section.
His breakthrough win was at the 1996 Michigan PGA Championship and he followed it up the next year with the Michigan PGA Match Play title.
In all, he has won three Michigan PGA titles, five Match Play titles and several team titles. Five times Cairns was named Player of the Year by the Section.
As a senior he has continued to excel, claiming the 2014 Michigan Senior PGA championship and playing in three National PGA Seniors and a U.S. Senior Open. In 2015, Cairns was the PGA of America’s Senior Player of the Year, the first Michigan player to be so honored.
A former Michigan Junior Golf Leader, Brian Cairns is also an accomplished teacher at Fox Hills Learning Center.
