Dave Kendall has the distinction of being part of only the second class to enter the landmark Professional Golf Management program at Ferris State University, and he was one of two PGM graduates to first earn the classification of PGA Head Golf Professional.
Fifth in a family of six children, his parents got Dave into the game at Cadillac Country Club. Serendipitously he eventually served 17 years as professional of the club.
Achievements came in pairs often for Kendall who served as president of the Michigan Section of the PGA. He twice was elected Professional of the Year, twice named Teacher of the Year and as a player twice won the Michigan Senior Open Championship.
Kendall took his teaching and management experience to Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti and established the Kendall Academy. His staff of top-ranked professionals turned out champions on every level from junior to high school, college, club and professional, seniors, men and women.
In 2025 the Golf Association of Michigan presented him with the Distinguished Service Award, its highest honor. Later that year he passed away after an inspiring battle with cancer. He was 70.
