Lindholm began competing in state and national golf competitions in his mid-30’s.
He played in 22 Michigan Amateurs, reaching the semi-finals three times. In 1997, at age 51, he was the 1997 Michigan Amateur Champion and the second low amateur at the 1997 U.S. Senior Open.
He won the 2003 Horton Smith/Michigan Medal Play at age 57 and the Michigan Senior Amateur in 2004 and 2005.
He has played in 10 USGA Championships, reaching the quarterfinals of the 2001 U.S. Senior Amateur.
As a GAM Super Senior (65 & over), Lindholm has won several titles including a Match Play and two Four-Ball titles with his partner.
