Rick Smith is a multi-talented force in Michigan golf.
As a professional, he helped transform Gaylord’s Treetops Resort into a major golf and travel destination for not only Michigan but also the United States. Fittingly, Michigan’s Governor designated Smith as the state’s golf ambassador.
As an instructor, Smith’s teaching prowess became nationally known as he worked with such luminaries as Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, Rocco Mediate and Lee Janzen.
As a designer, Smith’s work at Arcadia Bluffs is a stunning testimony to his keen eye, intelligence and acute golf instincts as it tops the lists of ‘must-play’ public courses in the state. Along with Wuskowhan Players Club in Holland, R&S Sharf GC at Oakland University and a trio of courses at Treetops, Smith’s courses are popular and player-friendly befitting his winning personality and engaging manner.
